Lazarevac lies in the picturesque part of Šumadija Kolubara, in the immediate vicinity of the Kolubara river, at an altitude of 157m. Šumadija Kolubara is inclined towards the river Kolubara, after which it got its name. The northwest side of the Kolubara plain, on which Lazarevac lies, is flat, while the southeast is hilly and predominantly fruit-growing. The rather stormy geological past of this area is evidenced by the large mass of exhumed volcanic rocks of dacite and andesite in Rudovci and Baroševac.
