Sabac, located in western Serbia on the banks of the Sava River, developed around the fortifications built along the river (Zaslon, Bigir Delen). It is the economic, cultural and administrative center of the Mačvan district. The Šabac area has a moderate continental climate. Due to its openness towards the Pannonian Plain, its lowland parts in the north are under the influence of the Pannonian continental climate, and the hilly mountainous south and southwest up to 700 m above sea level are under the influence of the mountain climate. Characteristics of the economic development of the city of Šabac are: dynamism and a positive social product. Positive developments in the economy are the result of, among other things: traditionally developed entrepreneurship with a trading heritage, a long tradition in industrial production, a large number of successfully privatized companies, as well as the presence of foreign investors. The city of Šabac has 55,000 inhabitants, while according to the latest census from 2022, the entire area of Šabac has 106,066 inhabitants.
