Pirot is a town settlement in the municipality of Pirot in the Pirot district. The basin in which Pirot was formed is of tectonic origin, probably even before the Oligocene age, and certainly Oligocene. Pirot owes its fame primarily to Pirot sheep's cheese, Pirot carpet, and today, of course, the "Tigar MH" car tire. Today, Pirot sees his chance primarily in the development of tourism, healthy food and manufacturing. 40,000 inhabitants live in the settlement of Pirot, while according to the last census from 2022, the municipality of Pirot has almost 49,894 inhabitants.
