To the west of this place, at a distance of 13 km, the river Tamish flows. In terms of traffic, Kovačica has a favorable position. It is connected to Pančevo and Zrenjanin by railway, and by an asphalt road to other places in the municipality and important city centers. The first settlement under the name Kovačica was mentioned in 1751, when after the disbandment of the Potiskopomoric military border, numerous Serbian border guards and their families settled in this place. With the formation of the German military border in 1767, Kovačica received the Hungarian name Antalfalva (Antal's village). The settlers brought their priest and teacher with them, jointly built a building that was divided into a prayer house and a school, built houses for themselves and successfully organized life in the new environment. In the national structure, the Slovak population predominates, followed by Serbs, Romanians, Hungarians, Roma and others. Kovačica has 6,500 inhabitants, while the entire municipality of Kovačica, according to the last census of 2022, has almost 21,496 inhabitants.Would you like your company to be in our business catalogue?
