Uroševac - once known as Ferizović, this city is also the center of the municipality of the same name and is located in the southeastern part of Kosovo and Metohija and therefore belongs to the Kosovo administrative district. If you ever decide to visit it, you can find it at the bottom of Šar mountain at 573m above sea level on the southern edge of the Kosovo basin. Uroševac is located there, on the banks of the Nerodimka River and near the Priština-Skopje main road. This city and the entire area in general gained importance in the 14th century as the center of culture, political life and economy of the then Serbian medieval state under the leadership of the Nemanjići dynasty that appeared in 1183. At that time, a number of summer houses, houses and castles were built on the territory surrounding this city. belonged to the nobility of that time and the main part of aristocratic life took place here. This is where the nobles gathered, and the rulers made important decisions in the political and general life of the country, it was an area that was necessarily visited by visiting foreign nobles as well as envoys from other countries, significant figures of the European nobility, etc. When the Mitrovica railway started operating, there was a big population explosion in this area. It seemed overnight, houses, craft workshops and shops sprang up along the railway. There is also the cathedral church of St. Cara Uroš in the center of the aptly named Uroševac, which belongs to the Eparchy of Raska-Prizren of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The church was built in the same courtyard as the mosque between 1929-1933, which was a rarity in those days - as well as today. The builder who was at the head of that project was Skopje architect Josif Mihailović.
