Melenci is a settlement of the town of Zrenjanin in the Central Banat District. The average altitude is 82 m, with the highest point Debela Umko (86 m) and the lowest point Barnićevo Dolja (79 m). The area of the village is 16,511 hectares, making it one of the largest in Serbia. Melence was formed in the first half of the 18th century by freed border guards of the Maritime Military Border. The settlement was named after an already existing toponym - Pustara Melence, which was first mentioned on the map of Banat from 1723-1725. year. On the map, on the southern coast of Rusanda, there is a sign of the post office.
