Jagodina extends from 43°52' to 44°07' north latitude and from 21°02' to 21°21' east latitude at an altitude of 116 meters. It is located in the central part of the Pomeranian District, only 136 km south of Belgrade and 130 km north of Niš, on the A-10 corridor of the international highway E-75, and therefore forms the heart of Pomeranian Voivodeship. It covers an area of 470 km², at the foot of Đurđevo brdo, in the plain around Belica (which is the left tributary of Velika Morava). The rivers Velika Morava and Lugomir flow through the territory of the city, and to the west of Velika Morava are the mountains Juhor (755 meters) and Crni vrh (708 meters), which belong to the Rhodope Mountains. The oldest traces of life on the soil of Jagodina come from the younger stone age around 5500 BC. In the first century, the Roman settlement under "Đurđevi brdo" was created. The medieval village of Jagodna was mentioned for the first time on July 15 (July 28 according to the new calendar) in 1399 in a letter from Countess Milica and her sons Stefan and Vukan to the Dubrovnik Municipality. This document is the first preserved written information that Jagodina existed in the 14th century, but that it was also a temporary ruler's residence. According to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, according to the latest census from 2022, the total number of inhabitants in the urban area of Jagodina is 65,180. The city of Jagodina has about 35,000 inhabitants.
