The municipality of Despotovac is located in the eastern part of Serbia, i.e. on the eastern side of Velika Morava and extends between 43 degrees and 57 minutes and 44 degrees and 13 minutes of north latitude, i.e. 21 degrees and 15 minutes and 21 degrees and 50 minutes from Greenwich. The seat of the Municipality is in Despotovac. In its eastern part, the Municipality has a mountainous character, bordered by the ranges of the Kučaj Mountains, while the western part has a plain character and is suitable for agricultural production. The Resava River flows through almost the entire length of the territory of the Municipality. The lowest absolute altitude is 130 m, and the highest is 1,336 m. (Beljanica) It can be said that the Municipality of Despotovac is well connected by road with the 8 surrounding municipalities. Despotovac - Svilajnac - Markovac (35) km., Despotovac - Ćuprija (22 km) and Despotovac - Jagodina (35 km) roads, Despotovac municipality is connected to the Belgrade - Niš road. The total length of regional roads in the territory of the municipality of Despotovac is 112.5 km. and the local road network is 87.5 km. There is also a 42 km long railway line. The surface area of the municipality of Despotovac is 62,278 ha or about 623 km2. Agricultural land covers 31,481 ha, and forest land covers 26,688 ha. Building land remained barren. The structure of this land is dominated by arable land and gardens. The municipality of Despotovac consists of 31 inhabited places, of which 2 are urban (Despotovac and Resavica).
