In written documents, Temerin is mentioned for the first time in 1332 in a papal receipt addressed to Laurentius de Temerius, a parish priest, for the payment of a papal tax. Temerin was part of the Kingdom of Hungary until the Battle of Mohács in 1526. After that year, it was part of the Ottoman Empire. At that time, the Serbian population immigrated to Bačka and Temerin. Today, the municipality of Temerin is a multinational community of 16 nationalities and about 28,000 inhabitants. The population growth trend of the Temerina area is very specific.
