Sečanj is a municipality and settlement in northern Serbia, located in the South Banat District of Vojvodina, not far from Zrenjanin. It lies in a flat area with fertile fields suitable for agriculture and livestock breeding, which form the basis of the local economy. The first written records of the settlement date back to the 15th century, and throughout history, Sečanj developed as a local administrative, commercial, and cultural center. According to the latest census, the Sečanj municipality has around 13,000 inhabitants. The majority are Serbs, while minority communities, primarily Hungarians, Romanians, and Roma, are present in smaller numbers. The population is distributed between the central settlement of Sečanj and surrounding villages. Demographic trends show a stable population in the town center, while rural areas have experienced a slight decline. Sečanj is known for preserving local traditions, cultural heritage, and customs. Agriculture, livestock breeding, and small businesses form the basis of the local economy, while tourism is gradually developing thanks to the natural beauty of the area.
