The territory of the municipality of Majdanpek is located in the northern part of eastern Serbia and covers the area of the largest forest and mining complex in eastern Serbia. It stretches between Lake Djerdap in the north, Miroč (632 m) in the northeast, Deli Jovan (1,133 m) in the east, Stola (1,155 m) in the south, Mali Krs (929 m) and Veliki Krs (1,148 m) in the southwest, the northern slopes of the Homoljski Mountains (923 m) in the west and the mountain massifs of Starica (796 m) and Šomrda (803 m) in the northwest. With an area of 932 km2, the municipality of Majdanpek ranks eleventh in the Republic of Serbia. The territory of the municipality of Majdanpek consists of 14 inhabited places: Boljetin, Vlaole, Debeli Lug, Donji Milanovac, Golubinje, Jasikovo, Klokočevac, Leskovo, Majdanpek, Miroč, Mosna, Rudna Glava, Topolnica, Crnajka. The relief is predominantly hilly and mountainous (76% of the municipality), the high mountain area covers only 0.9%, and 23% of the area is lowland and hilly. The climate is continental with an average annual air temperature of 7.73º C, but two climatic areas can be distinguished: the area around the Danube has a moderate climate (Donji Milanovac is the place in the Republic with the most sunny days of the year) and the mountainous part with a harsh climate and more snowfall.
