at Ludosko Lake
Lake Ludoško, the second largest lake (surface area 387ha, length 4km) of Northern Bačka, is located at the junction of two natural-geographic entities: the Subotica-Khorgoška sandstone and the Middle Bačka loess plain, 12 km east of Subotica. The lake shaft was created about a million years ago, when it was hollowed out by the wind, and it prevented the further flow of water, stopping it among the sand dunes. From time immemorial, the diversity of the living space of the lake and its surroundings has provided a home to an extremely rich flora and fauna. Archaeological research shows that the oldest settlement in this area was located on the shore of Lake Ludaški. The archaic village houses of Ludaš, the oldest farming settlement around the lake, belong to the southernmost variant of the Hungarian lowland house type. Due to its importance and protection of natural values and characteristics, and above all the habitats of wetland birds, Ludaško Lake is protected as a special nature reserve.Would you like your company to be in our business catalogue?
