The municipality of Ljubovija includes the area of Azbukovica and has an area of 356 square kilometers. It is a mountainous area in western Serbia, on the border with Republika Srpska. The Drina River separates Azbukovica from the municipalities of Srebrenica and Bratunac in a length of 38 km. According to the 2022 census, the municipality of Ljubovija has about 12,272 inhabitants, and in 1961 it had 25,000 inhabitants. A significant part moved to Mačva, but also Srem, the area of Valjevo, Novi Sad, Belgrade and other cities.
