Kosovo Polje - a city settlement located in the heart of Kosovo and Metohija is the center of the municipality of the same name that belongs to the Kosovo Administrative District. Once the railway junction located here was the fourth most important in Serbia after Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš, and through it both national and international traffic took place through the route Athens-Skopje-Belgrade-Munich, however, after 1999, all railway property was usurped Albanians after the persecution of Serbs.
