at Divcibare

Divčibare is a town settlement and a famous tourist spot in the vicinity of the town of Valjevo in the Kolubara district on the Maljen mountain. It is located 38 kilometers south of Valjevo, and 107 kilometers from Belgrade. It stretches from Crni vrh, Paljba, Golupac to Veliki brdo. It is located at a height of 980 meters above sea level, the highest peak – 1095m. The plateau was named Divcibare or "girls' pond" in memory of the tragic death of a young girl. According to folklore, a young shepherdess accidentally drowned in a swollen Black Oyster. Divčibare has a long history of spa tourism. The name itself is mentioned as far back as 1476 in the Turkish census of Smederevo Sandžak. An important fact for the history of the spa is that after the Second Serbian Uprising, Prince Miloš Obrenović bought the entire plateau, with all the corrals and other brick buildings, from his Turkish cousin Deli-age. It is known that Prince Miloš often visited this area, visited shepherds and controlled their work. There was a spring of cold mountain water near the "Gospodarski koliba", later called by the people the prince Miloš's fountain.
