Ćuprija is located between the road and railway main road Belgrade-Niš, 145 -{km}- away from Belgrade and 90 -{km}- from Niš. The city itself lies at the confluence of the two rivers Ravanica and Velika Morava. It was located on the once strategically important Roman road that connected Constantinople with Rome, so a garrison was built there, and later the city was known by the name -{Horreum Margi}- i.e. granary of Morava, because grain from all over Pomerania was collected there. In the Middle Ages, it was called Ravno, and it got its name most likely after the arrival of the Slavs on the Balkan Peninsula. In the 15th century, the Turks conquered it, and built a bridge, i.e. a bridge, after which it got its new name. The municipality is also known for a large number of cultural institutions and several events in this area that enjoy a certain reputation and wider popularity: the "Zanatski dom" cultural center, the "Dušan Matić" library, the museum, the Municipal Theater, the KUD "Železničar". Among the cultural events there are: Vidovdan festivities, "Matićevi dani", World Health Poster Exhibition, Art Colony, Assembly of Fine Artists in Supska. According to the latest census from 2022, the municipality of Ćuprija has a little more than 25,663 inhabitants, while the settlement of Ćuprija alone has about 20,000 people.
