Crna Trava is a municipality and settlement in southeastern Serbia, located in the Jablanica District, in the mountainous region of the country’s southeast. It lies on a plateau with clean air and rich nature, making it suitable for livestock breeding and agriculture. The first written records of the settlement date back to the Middle Ages, and throughout history, Crna Trava developed as a local administrative, cultural, and trade center. According to the latest census, the Crna Trava municipality has around 1,500 inhabitants, making it one of the least populated municipalities in Serbia. The majority are Serbs, while minority communities are present in smaller numbers. The population is distributed between the central settlement and surrounding villages. Demographic trends show a significant decline in population, especially in rural areas, due to migration toward larger cities. Crna Trava is known for preserving local traditions, cultural heritage, and customs, while livestock breeding and agriculture form the basis of the local economy. Although tourism is not well developed, its natural beauty and mountainous landscapes hold potential for future growth. Today, Crna Trava offers basic facilities for living and recreation, making it a peaceful and authentic destination for both visitors and local residents.
