Bujanovac is a town settlement and the seat of the municipality of the same name in the Pčinj administrative district, in Serbia. On the 360th kilometer of the main road from Belgrade to Macedonia and Greece, in the extreme south of Serbia, is the town of Bujanovac, the administrative, economic, cultural, health and educational center of the municipality. Territorially, it belongs to the Pčinj district. The average altitude for the city of Bujanovac is 400m. The rivers of Bujanovac are Moravica, Južna Morava, Pčinja, Trnovačka reka, Krševačka and Breznička. The city of Bujanovac is located in the center of communication routes, right next to the road and railway highway on the international corridor E-10 that connects Belgrade-Skopje-Thessalonica-Athens. The proximity of three international airports, Niš 136 km, Skopje 70 km and Pristina 105 km, as well as the proximity of the border crossing with Macedonia, Čukarka 23 km, favors this position of the municipality. Bujanovac is known for its mineral water springs, so it is also known by the name Bujanovačka Banja. The city is also known by some other names in other languages: Albanian - Bujanoci, Bulgarian - Buyanovac. According to the official census from 2011, about 19,000 inhabitants live in Bujanovac. This information is not correct because at the beginning of September 2011, the assembly of Albanian deputies called on Albanians from the municipalities of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac to boycott the census of the Republic of Serbia. According to the last census from 2022, the municipality of Bujanovac has about 42,634 inhabitants.
