The municipality of Bor consists of the central settlement and seat of the municipality - the city settlement of Bor and 12 villages: Gornjane, Tanda, Luka, Krivelj, Bučje, Oštrelj, Donja Bela Reka, Brestovac, Slatina, Zlot, Šarbanovac and Metovnica. There are 13 local communities in these 12 villages. The municipality of Bor is also the seat of the Bor district, which, in addition to Bor, consists of the municipalities of Kladovo, Majdanpek and Negotin. The average annual rate of population decline is 2.21%. The decline in production and the general bad state of the economy of the municipality and its surroundings had a significant impact on the decrease in the birth rate and the increase in the population migration rate. Within the Roman Empire, Bor was part of the province of Upper Moesia, whose capital was Viminacium (today's Kostolac). From the fourth to the sixth century, the city was part of the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium). This territory then changed many masters. It was first conquered by the Gepids, and it remained in their possession until the Bulgarian conquest. Then it again became a part of Byzantium, and then of the Kingdom of Hungary. According to the latest census from 2022, the municipality of Bor has 41,260 inhabitants.
