Bečej is a small town and the seat of the municipality of the same name in the South Bačka District of Vojvodina in Serbia. The city of Bečej has about 26,000 inhabitants, while the municipality of Bečej has about 30,968 inhabitants according to the 2022 census. On the right bank of the Tisza there has been a large settlement, a Pannonian-type city, one of the largest in Potisje, the economic, social and cultural center of this part of Vojvodina - Bečej. In the municipality of Bečej are: Bačko Petrovo Selo, Bačko Gradište, Radičević and the settlement of Mileševo. Bečej is in a convenient geographical position, at the crossroads of railway and road roads, on artificial canals and the Tisza river. The city has interesting architectural monuments and monumental churches.
