Alibunar is a municipality and settlement in southeastern Vojvodina, in the South Banat District, located in a flat area with fertile fields suitable for agriculture. The settlement is known for its multicultural character and historical development during the Austro-Hungarian period, when colonial settlements were established in the region. Throughout history, Alibunar developed as a local administrative, commercial, and economic center. According to the latest census, the Alibunar municipality has around 18,000 inhabitants. The majority are Serbs, while minority communities, mainly Romanians and Hungarians, are also present. The population is distributed between the central settlement of Alibunar and surrounding villages. Demographic trends show a stable population in the central area, while rural areas have experienced a slight decline. Alibunar is known for preserving local traditions, cultural events, and customs.
